The vCompress Engine
The vCompress H.264 engine was developed by Vanguard Software Solutions, Inc., a leading developer of video compression codecs for the worldwide professional broadcasting industry.
VSS engineered the vCompress H.264 engine using the most advanced, efficient video standard available today: H.264.
Capable of exceeding the most demanding performance benchmarks in today's professional video market, the vCompress Engine is unrivaled in the world of video compression.
What is H.264
H.264 (also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, or Advanced Video Coding/AVC) is the latest ISO standard for video compression. The H.264 standard provides excellent video quality at substantially lower bit rates than previous standards:
half the bit rate of the previous standards MPEG-2, H.263, and MPEG-4 Part 2. H.264 is also flexible enough
to be used in a wide variety of applications. Today, H.264 is used in both low and high resolution video, broadcasting, DVD and HD-DVD storage,
RTP/IP networks, IPTV, online file-sharing, and popular consumer multimedia players like the
iPod, iPhone, and Xbox 360.
Multicore Processing
The vCompress H.264 engine is optimized for Single, Duo and Quad-Core multi-threading.
Optimization and efficiency are what sets vCompress apart from other H.264 codes.
In addition, the vCompress engine is constantly evolving to keep up with new international standards
and video compression technology, ensuring its place at the head of the consumer video compression market.
